About us

The State Emergency Service is a volunteer organisation formed to respond to emergency situations and to support other statutory services in times of emergencies or disasters.

At the local community level, SES respond to 'day to day' type incidents such as vehicle accidents, searches, cliff rescues, flood and storm damage situations and any other incidents at which their assistance may be required.

The Tea Tree Gully SES Unit has been active throughout the metropolitan area and country regions for almost 30 years. Within this time we have been required to respond to many different and varied emergencies, such as Cyclone Tracy, Ash Wednesday, Two Wells flooding and the Wattle Park storm damage of 2002. We have deployed crews to the Port Lincoln fires, Newcastle storms and most recently to the devastating Victorian bushfires.

We are trained in Search, Advanced Rescue, Storm Damage, Vertical Rescue, First Aid, and Urban Search and Rescue (USAR).

This year the Tea Tree Gully SES Unit responds to over 350 calls for assistance.

The National Disaster Rescue Championships were held in Queensland from the 18th - 21st of September and Tea Tree Gully represented South Australia. We placed a close 2nd to New South Wales. Final scores were NSW 1057 points to SA 1022 points.
